# Printed menus or a digital menu board?

> With print, every price change means a new run at the printer. Here's what changes when the menu lives on a screen you update from anywhere.

## What a menu change looks like

This month two seasonal drinks join the menu and two others come off it.

| Printed | Jonza |
| --- | --- |
| Someone redesigns the board and sends it to the printer | Update the four drinks from a laptop or a phone |
| You wait a few days, and pay again for every branch | Every menu screen shows the new menu within seconds |
| Until then, the old menu stays up, or a sticker covers it | Nothing to print, deliver or throw away |
| The breakfast board stays up all day, whatever the time | Breakfast, lunch and evening menus switch over by the clock |
| Last season's poster is still in the window because nobody took it down | A one-day campaign comes off the screen by itself when the day ends |

## Side by side

| | Jonza | Printed |
| --- | --- | --- |
| What a poster change takes | A few clicks | Design, print and delivery |
| Time for a price change to show | Seconds | Days |
| Change content without visiting the location | Yes | No |
| Different content by time of day | Yes | No |
| Same change in every branch at once | Yes | Only if every print arrives on time |
| Video and motion | Yes | No |
| Several offers in the same space | Takes turns in a loop | One per frame |

The difference shows wherever things change: seasonal drinks, weekly specials, breakfast giving way to lunch, or one update that has to reach several branches.

## What changes with screens

### No more reprints

A new price or a new drink goes up from your phone. Nothing to send to the printer, wait for or throw away.

### More than one message per spot

The menu, this week's special and a short video take turns in the same frame, so one board does the work of several posters.

### One change, every branch

Make the change once and every menu screen shows it within seconds, in every location.

## A menu that changes with the clock

A printed board shows breakfast at 4pm. A screen can show the morning menu until noon and switch to lunch by itself, then make room for a weekend offer on Saturday.

- Menus by time of day
- Seasonal specials, swapped in from anywhere
- Prices updated in seconds

## Questions

### Do I need a designer to make the screens?

No. You can build a screen from your photos and videos, and add text, a clock or a scrolling ticker on top in the browser. If you already have print designs, upload them as images and use them as they are.

### Can I keep some printed menus?

Of course. Many places keep a printed menu at the table and put a screen above the counter, where prices and specials change most. That's where a screen saves the most reprints.

### Can I use the TVs I already have?

Often, yes. The Jonza player runs on Linux, Windows, Android, Google TV, Amazon Fire TV, LG webOS, Raspberry Pi and Samsung Tizen, and our team connects remotely to set it up. If you'd rather start fresh, we can ship Tochi screens, Erpa's own brand made in Türkiye, with Jonza already set up.
