# Screens for a new branch: a setup checklist

> Opening a branch is a hundred jobs at once, and the screens tend to come last. This checklist keeps them from being the thing that isn't ready on opening day.

## Start during the fit-out, not after it

The cheapest time to plan screens is while the walls are still open. Moving a socket or running a network cable before the paint goes on costs a fraction of doing it later, and it saves you from cables taped across a finished wall.

Walk the space with the floor plan and decide where each screen goes and what it's for: the menu above the counter, a window screen for passers-by, a waiting-area screen, a door screen with opening hours. A screen without a clear job usually ends up showing nothing in particular.

## Site survey: what to check at each spot

- Wall: can it carry the screen and mount? Plasterboard may need reinforcement or a different fixing.
- Power: a socket close behind the screen, ideally hidden by it, on a circuit that isn't switched off with the lights at closing.
- Network: a cable point if you can, or a strong Wi-Fi signal at that exact spot. Check it with a phone where the screen will hang, not at the router.
- Light: look at the spot in the morning and the afternoon. Windows and spotlights can wash out a screen or reflect off it.
- Viewing distance and height: stand where customers will stand. Can you read a price from there without stepping closer?
- Orientation: portrait suits menus and windows; landscape suits videos and wide boards. Decide before ordering mounts.
- Access: can someone reach the player and the cables for maintenance without taking the screen down?

> Take a photo of each spot with a tape measure in it. It answers most questions from installers and suppliers without another visit.

## Ordering screens and mounts

Decide whether the branch uses the same screens as your others. Matching models make content, spares and support simpler, since a playlist designed for one branch looks right in the next.

- Choose sizes from the viewing distance, not from what's on offer.
- For windows and bright spots, pick screens made for brightness and long hours.
- Order mounts that suit the wall and orientation, and that need a tool to remove.
- Order cables, power strips and any small media players at the same time; they're the parts that go missing on install day.
- Leave time for delivery. Screens are bulky and rarely arrive the day after you order.

You can use Tochi screens that arrive with Jonza already set up, or your own screens if they run one of the supported systems; in that case our team connects remotely and sets them up.

## Install day

1. **Mount and connect**: Hang each screen, connect power and network, and tidy the cables before anything else goes in front of them.
2. **Switch on and pair**: Turn on each screen and connect it to the internet. It shows a pairing code, which links it to your account.
3. **Name it clearly**: Name each screen by branch and position, such as "Kadıköy – counter left", so anyone can tell which one is which from a distance.
4. **Tag it to the branch**: Add tags for the branch, floor or screen type. Tags let you send content to every screen in a group in one go.
5. **Assign content and schedule**: Give the screen the branch's playlists and weekly schedule, or the shared ones your other branches already follow.

## Content for the first day

A new branch often needs a few things your others don't: an opening offer, the new address, local opening hours, a "we're hiring" message. Plan these as their own items with an end date, so they come down on their own when the opening period is over.

- Check prices match this branch, if they differ from your others.
- Put the right opening hours on the door screen.
- Give the opening campaign a start and an end date.
- Keep the regular menu and brand content identical to your other branches, so customers recognise you.

## Test like a customer

Before opening, walk in through the front door and look at every screen as a first-time customer would. Then stand in the queue, sit in the waiting area and walk past the window.

- Can you read the prices from the queue?
- Does anything glare at the time of day you'll be busiest?
- Does each item stay up long enough to read?
- Does the morning content switch to the afternoon content at the right time?
- Is anything cut off at the edges, or stretched?

## Hand over to the branch

The branch team doesn't need to manage the screens, but they need to know three things: what to do if a screen is dark, who to call, and what not to touch.

- A short note in the back office: which screen is which, where each player is and how to restart it.
- A name and number for help, ideally on a sticker on the back of each screen.
- A clear rule: no USB sticks, no changing TV settings. Changes come from the centre.

## The first week

New installations settle in during the first few days. Check that each screen stays online through the day and overnight, that the schedule switches as planned, and ask the branch team what customers are asking about. If people keep asking something the screens could answer, add it.

Once the branch is running, it's simply one more group of screens: the same content and schedules as the rest, updated from wherever you are. If you're planning a new opening and want a hand with the screens, our team can help from the survey to the first day.

## Questions

### Can a new branch follow the same schedule as the others?

Yes. Give its screens the same tags or assign them the same schedule, and they play what your other branches play, at the same times.

### Can it have its own prices or offers?

Yes. Each screen follows the content you assign to it, so a branch can share most things and still have its own prices or an opening campaign.

### Does someone from head office need to be on site?

Not for the screens. Once they're mounted and connected, pairing, naming and content can be done remotely.
